M&A Simulation Add-On FAQs

How do I log in to the platform? Use your registered email and unique Game Code to log in. The game code is sent to you via email upon purchasing the sim.

What is a Game Code, and where do I find it? The Game Code is a unique identifier for each user, required to access the platform. You receive your Game Code after purchase, and you can also find purchase details here.

How do I use the Game Code? Enter your Game Code in the ‘Enter Game Code’ field on the login page to log in and access the simulation.

What if I lose my Game Code? If you lose your Game Code, contact customer support ([email protected]) with your account details. They’ll assist you in retrieving or resetting your code.

How long is the Game Code valid? Each Game Code is valid for one year from the date of purchase, after which it expires.

How many attempts do I get per Game Code? Each Game Code allows for 5 simulation attempts. Once these attempts are used, the Game Code will expire.

Where can I check my remaining attempts? You can view your remaining attempts in the header section on the desktop view or in the profile section on the mobile view after logging in.

Is there a time limit for each attempt? Yes, each attempt has a 30-minute countdown timer, during which you can explore and interact with the simulation.

What happens if I run out of time? When the timer ends, your attempt will conclude automatically. You can then view a detailed performance report in the Performance Dashboard tab and compare your ranking with other users in the Leaderboard section.

How do I start a new attempt? A new attempt can be started by clicking the "Start Again" button. Alternatively, you can log out and log back in, then select "No" when prompted to restore previous attempt data.

Can I save my progress and return later? Yes, if you log out during an attempt, your progress is saved. When you log back in, you’ll be prompted to either restore your previous attempt or start a new attempt.

Why is the platform running slowly? High traffic or network issues may affect loading times. Try refreshing the page or switching to a different browser (the recommended browser is Google Chrome)for a smoother experience.

Why is data not loading? Refresh the page or switch browsers. If the issue continues, contact support for further assistance at [email protected].

Why can’t I log in, even with the correct email and Game Code? Double-check that your Game Code is entered correctly, as it is case-sensitive. Also, ensure your internet connection is stable. If issues persist, try switching to a different browser (the recommended browser is Google Chrome). For further assistance, contact support at [email protected].

The simulation is not loading after logging in. What should I do? If the simulation doesn’t load, try refreshing the page. If the issue continues, clear your browser cache or try accessing the platform from a different browser (the recommended browser is Google Chrome) or device.

Can I reset my simulation if I make a mistake? Once an attempt has started, you cannot reset it midway. However, you can complete the attempt and start a new one if you have remaining attempts.

Can I see the strategies or actions of AI players? While the full strategies of AI players are not visible, you can see another view of their approach below their names, indicating general styles like "Big Starter," "Same Sector," etc.

How do I bid on a company in the simulation? To bid on a target company, select an acquirer company from your list, enter a premium percentage, and submit your bid. Bidding is competitive, so each round requires a premium higher than the previous round.

How many rounds are there in the bidding process? There can be a maximum of 3 bidding rounds per company. The highest bid at the end of the third round wins the target company.

What happens if I quit bidding before all 3 rounds are completed? If you exit the bidding process before all rounds are complete, the AI players will continue, and the deal will be executed based on their highest bids. The winning company will then be added to the AI player's portfolio.

Can I undo a bid? No. Once a bid is submitted, it cannot be undone.

How can I view the deal history of a company? You can view a company’s deal history by clicking on the eye icon next to the company's name. This will display all past transactions and relevant details for that company.

Is there a guide or video that explains how the simulation works? Yes, there is a video tutorial explaining the simulation available in the header. Click on the video icon to watch. Additionally, you can access the simulation guide by clicking the "i" (information) button, also located in the header. This guide provides step-by-step instructions and helpful tips to navigate and make the most of the simulation.

How does leaderboard ranking work? It is across all CFI participants who purchase the simulation. Ranking is based on the total value created or destroyed for all deals within a single attempt. The player’s rank resets with each attempt and displays the latest rank, regardless of whether it’s higher or lower.
