FMVA® | 2026 Program Refresh Overview

This article outlines the changes planned for and implemented in the FMVA Certification Program throughout 2026.


Core Course Updates

The following changes will be made to the FMVA Program's core courses on February 27, 2026.

New Core Course

  • Financial Modeling Guidelines
  • Forecasting Techniques

Refreshed/Modified Core Courses

  • PowerPoint and Pitchbooks
  • DCF Valuation Modeling will be replaced by two focused courses: DCF Valuation Modeling Techniques & Applied DCF Valuation Modeling
  • Budgeting and Forecasting will be removed from the FMVA Curriculum

Moving from Core Course to Elective Course

  • Monthly Cash Flow Modeling

Elective Course Updates

The following changes will be made to the FMVA Program's elective courses.

  • Presentation of Financial Information (to be replaced by Communication and Presentation Skills for Finance Professionals) effective February 27, 2026.
  • Advanced Excel Formulas & Functions will be refreshed effective May 29, 2026.

If you’re close to earning your FMVA Certification, we recommend completing the program before February 27, 2026, to avoid having to complete the new requirements.


Frequently Asked Questions

Will these changes impact my overall program progress when they are implemented?

  • Yes. Learners who have not earned their FMVA Certification when these changes take effect will be subject to the new requirements.

Can I keep the old version of the FMVA Program?

  • No. We strive to ensure our content is regularly updated and refreshed to align with industry standards. When a program is updated, only the newest version is available.

I have already earned my FMVA Certification. Do I need to retake any courses to maintain my certificate?

  • No. If you earn your FMVA Certification before the changes outlined in this article take effect, you will not be impacted. You are, of course, welcome to take any new courses as long as you have an active subscription.
