CFI for Teams Roles & Permissions

This article outlines the key differences between Administrator and Manager roles, including permissions, dashboard visibility, and group-based access.

Roles and Dashboard Access

Corporate Finance Institute (CFI) offers two primary roles for managing a company's account: Administrators and Managers. Each role has different permissions and visibility levels within the Dashboard.


Admin Access

An Admin has full access to the Dashboard and complete visibility across the entire company account.

Key Permissions

Admins can:

  • View the full Dashboard
  • Manage other Managers
  • Manage subscriptions and licenses
  • Create and manage learning paths
  • Assign courses and learning activities to learners
  • Access account-wide insights and reporting

Dashboard Visibility

Admin accounts have access to all company-wide metrics and insights, including data shown in:

  • My Dashboard
  • People

This role is best suited for account owners or administrators who need oversight of the full organization.


Manager Access

A Manager has limited access to the Dashboard, focused on managing learners within specific groups.

Key Permissions

Managers can:

  • Access the Dashboard
  • Manage learning paths
  • Assign learning to learners within their groups

Group-Based Restrictions

Managers can only view and manage learners who belong to the same group(s) to which they are assigned.


Dashboard Restrictions

Manager accounts only see group-specific insights and metrics for learners within their assigned groups.

Access to account-wide insights (such as those shown in My Dashboard and People) is restricted to Admins, since those sections reflect the entire company account.


People Management Restrictions

Across all People management features, Managers will only see users within their assigned groups, including:

  • The Learners page
  • The Pending and Unlicensed Users page

This ensures consistent group-based access control throughout the platform.
