Course Retirements | Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Modeling and Leveraged Buyout (LBO) Modeling
Effective April 30th, the current Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Modeling and Leveraged Buyout (LBO) Modeling courses will be retired and replaced with restructured versions. The core concepts covered in these courses remain the same; they will simply be reorganized to provide a better, more focused learning experience.
What's Changing
Leveraged Buyout (LBO) Modeling
The existing LBO Modeling course will be replaced by three new courses:
- LBO Modeling Part 1 – Sources & Uses
- LBO Modeling Part 2 – Capital Structure
- LBO Modeling Part 3 – Output Metrics
Affected programs:
- Investment Banking & Private Equity Modeling Specialization (Core course)
- Investment Banking Analyst (M&A) Advisory (Core course)
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Modeling
The existing M&A Modeling course will be replaced by two new courses:
- M&A Modeling in Excel Part 1 - Model Setup & Transaction Adjustments
- M&A Modeling in Excel Part 2 - Pro Forma Integration & Analysis
Affected programs:
- Investment Banking & Private Equity Modeling Specialization (Core course)
- CBCA (Elective)
Note for CBCA learners: If you are enrolled in the CBCA program, please refer to our separate article regarding the removal of M&A Modeling from the CBCA electives effective March 31, 2026.
What This Means for You
- The content hasn't changed. The same core concepts are covered in the new courses; they've simply been broken into smaller, more digestible parts.
- We recommend completing these courses under their current structure before April 30th. After that date, you'll be transitioned to the new course structure, and your progress will be measured against it. You can continue working through the current course versions until they are retired.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I lose my completion certificate if I have already finished the old course?
- No. Any certificates of completion earned in the existing courses will remain present on your student dashboard.
Can I complete the new divided courses even if I have already completed the existing version(s)?
- Yes, you'll be able to complete the new, divided versions of these courses if you'd like to.
