How to Designate Your CFI Certification

Learners who have earned a CFI Certification may display their credentials as a designation. This article outlines the format that is permitted for displaying your designation.

CFI Certification Designations

  • Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA®) or FMVA®
  • Commercial Banking & Credit Analyst (CBCA®) or CBCA®
  • Capital Markets & Securities Analyst (CMSA®) or CMSA®
  • Business Intelligence & Data Analyst (BIDA®) or BIDA®
  • Financial Planning & Wealth Management Professional (FPWMP™) Management or FPWMP®
  • FinTech Industry Professional (FTIP™) or FTIP™

Designations may only be used after a certification has been earned and may only be used as outlined below:

  • May never be used generically as a noun, verb, or possessive form.
  • Must appear as adjectives to modify the subject, person, or certification.
  • Certification holders are not permitted to use these designations as part of an email address, business name, or domain name.

Examples of Correct Formatting:

✅ John Doe, FMVA®

✅ John Doe, CBCA®

✅ John Doe, Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA®)

✅ John Doe, FTIP™

✅ John Doe is enrolled in the FPWMP® certification program.


Examples of Incorrect Formatting:

❌ John Doe is an FMVA
