CFI’s Financial Planning and Wealth Management (FPWM™) program will equip you with the skills, knowledge, and tools to become a successful financial planner or wealth advisor through a comprehensive, on-demand course catalog.

FPWM™ Certification Requirements

First and foremost: Sign the CFI Honor Pledge - Program candidates must sign and abide by the CFI Honor Pledge to receive and maintain program certification. Failure to abide by the CFI Honor Pledge will result in the revocation of one's certificates.
- Step 1: Prep Courses (optional). We recommend learners who may need to refresh the basics before starting.
- Step 2: Core Courses. Complete 12 core courses to build a strong financial planning and wealth management foundation.
- Step 3: Elective Courses. Choose a minimum of four electives (out of 9 available) to explore topics that interest you on specialized topics.
- Step 4: Final Exam. To qualify for the final exam, 80% must be achieved on each end-of-course assessment. Once complete, take the final exam to earn your program certification. 70% is the minimum passing score to become FPWM™ certified.
- Step 5: Get FPWM™ Certified! After completing the program, you will receive a blockchain-verified digital certificate with your new credentials.
FPWM™ Duration & Delivery Method
Lectures, study materials, and exams are all online and accessible worldwide, allowing the program to be completed anytime on a self-paced timeline.
On average, the FPWM™ program takes between four to six months to complete.

- Investment Advisor - Investment Advisors (IAs) partner with Relationship Managers to provide comprehensive investment services, including sophisticated investment products, to HNW clients.

- Financial Planner - Identify clients’ financial goals and provide tailor-made financial planning services and solutions using various investment and portfolio solutions.
- Retail Portfolio Manager - Retail Portfolio Managers use model-based investing for High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth households.

Do I have the option to pause my studies in the middle of a course or program?
- CFI's courses are self-paced, allowing learners to learn whenever time permits. Simply click on 'Resume Course' to pick up training where you left off at your convenience.
I took the course assessment more than once; what score will this record on my transcript?
- We offer unlimited attempts on the course assessments. Your transcript will show a PASS or a FAIL for each test score.
What is the minimum passing score to become FPWM™ certified?
- Learners must achieve 70% or higher on the final exam to earn the FPWM™ certificate.
Can I retake an end-of-course assessment?
- Yes, you can retake course assessments as many times as needed.
