How to Change Video Lesson Settings

CFI's video lessons can be customized to suit your learning preferences best. This article will cover how to manage your video settings from your dashboard.


Basic Video Functions

CFI's video lessons have all the basic functions you're likely used to seeing whenever you watch a video online. Use the bottom options menu to change the settings on each video.

You can use these buttons to play or pause, rewind, mute or change volume level, toggle closed captions, change speed and quality, and view full screen. You can also skip right to a certain spot in the video by clicking or dragging your cursor on the time bar.

How do I turn on video captions?

To see closed captions as videos play, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the lesson/video you want to view
  2. Click the [CC] button below the video in the right-hand corner
  3. Click "English"
  4. Closed captions will automatically be displayed on the videos you watch unless you toggle this option to "Off," following the same steps outlined above.

Increasing/Decreasing Video Play Speed

How do I change the speed play of video lessons?

Follow the steps below to increase or decrease the speed at which CFI's videos are played.

  1. Open the lesson/video you want to view
  2. Click the gear icon below the video in the right-hand corner
  3. Click the moving clock icon from the top menu
  4. Choose the speed you want to apply
  5. This will set the default speed of every video you watch. To update this, follow the same steps outlined above.

Changing Video Quality

How do I change the quality of the video I am watching?

Follow the steps below to change the quality of a CFI video lesson.

  1. Open the lesson/video you want to view
  2. Click the gear icon below the video in the right-hand corner
  3. Click the bar graph icon from the top menu
  4. Choose the quality level you want to apply
  5. This will set the default quality of every video you watch. To update this, follow the same steps outlined above.
